TaskBreaker ("we", "us") is an iOS application developed by Antonio Bortone, based in Italy. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what control you have over it. We've written it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email antoniobortone050@gmail.com.
1. Data we collect
We collect three categories of data, each for a specific purpose.
a) On this website (task-breaker.app)
When you subscribe to launch updates via the "Notify me" form, we collect your email address only. The email is forwarded to Substack (Substack Inc., USA), which manages our mailing list. We do not place tracking cookies, analytics scripts, or advertising pixels on this site.
b) In the TaskBreaker iOS app
When you create an account in the app, we collect your email address and a randomly assigned user identifier. Both are stored by Supabase (Supabase, Inc.) in the EU (Frankfurt region).
Your goals, weekly plans, subtasks, streaks, color preferences, and calendar links are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. If you opt into iCloud sync (a system-level Apple feature), a copy is also stored in your private iCloud container. We do not have access to your iCloud data.
c) When you generate or edit an AI plan
The text of your goal (and the duration you selected) is sent from the app to our serverless endpoint hosted on Supabase, which forwards it to Anthropic (Anthropic, PBC, USA) for processing. The generated plan is returned to your device. We do not store the goal text, the plan, or any derived content on our servers beyond the duration of the request. Anthropic's own processing is governed by their privacy policy; under our API contract with them, your input is not used to train their models.
2. How we use your data
- To send you launch updates if you subscribed via the website (Substack).
- To create and maintain your TaskBreaker account (Supabase).
- To generate and edit AI plans you request (Anthropic).
- To validate App Store subscription receipts (Apple, via Supabase Edge Functions).
- To respond to your support emails.
We do not sell your data. We do not show ads. We do not build advertising profiles.
3. Who we share data with
We share data only with the third parties strictly required to run the service:
- Substack Inc. — newsletter delivery (email address only).
- Supabase, Inc. — authentication, account storage, subscription receipt validation (email, user ID, receipt data).
- Anthropic, PBC — AI plan generation (goal text and duration, per-request).
- Apple, Inc. — subscription billing and App Store delivery (governed by Apple's own policies).
We do not share data with any other third parties.
4. Data retention
Email subscribers (website): kept on the Substack list until you unsubscribe (one click in any email we send).
App account data (Supabase): kept while your account exists. You can delete your account from inside the app at any time; this removes the Supabase record and any associated data.
AI request data: not retained beyond the duration of the request.
5. Your rights under GDPR
If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Object to or restrict our processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email antoniobortone050@gmail.com with the subject line "GDPR request". We'll respond within 30 days.
6. International data transfers
Supabase stores your data in Frankfurt, Germany (EU). Substack, Anthropic, and Apple may process data in the United States. These transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission.
7. Children
TaskBreaker is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, email us and we'll delete it.
8. Security
Data in transit is encrypted via TLS. Data at rest on Supabase is encrypted by their infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure; if you suspect a breach affecting your data, email us immediately.
9. Changes to this policy
If we materially change this policy, we'll update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and, for app account holders, send an in-app notice before the change takes effect.
